Following his heart and his roots, Chef Marco Guccio (formerly of Zafferano) has struck out on his own, welcoming diners to a cosy, warm new 40-seater that he proudly describes as “completely Italian”. During summers in the southern regions of Italy – his family has roots in Sicily and Calabria – Chef Marco (the youngest in the family) took refuge in his grandmother’s vibrant kitchen. His cuisine is influenced by her advice to “respect nature and cook with patience”, and by the Mediterranean and seafood-centric cuisine of the region. The menu features simple and elegant dishes such as raw Sicilian prawns from Mazara with pea coulis and ricotta, sauteed baby artichokes, pan-seared Sardinian octopus, taglioni with wild rocket and San Marzano tomatoes, 48-hour sous vide prime short ribs, and more… all mouthwateringly simple, fresh and original.
